Labor of love

About nine years ago I decided to embark on a project that I knew nothing about.I wanted to build my grand daughter a rocking horse that she would be proud of. I had never done woodworking before but I was determined to do this. I made it out of various pieces of scrape wood that I had collected over time. There was pine and walnut mostly and I put it all together for this finished product.While I was visiting my daughter and her family recently I saw it sitting there. I decided to snap a quick shot of it.

If you didn't know, you would think that the craftsman of this piece had been doing woodwork for decades. One could imagine that this rocking horse will be handed down through many generations to come, what with its superb finish and more than apparent sturdiness. It looks to be the Leica of rocking horses. Mesh Australia

This is beautiful Jim. My husband loves working with wood also. He has made some really pretty guitars. Did you have plans for this horse or did you design it all by yourself? I understand why you have a gallery called the Beauty of Wood. You certainly do have an appreciation for wood. I particularly like the way you did the mane and the tail.
