Madeline Island & Ice Caves, Lake Superior '09

This year's visit at the ice caves was very different compared to last year. Not as many spectacular ice formations but still it is an impressive sight. I had the late afternoon sun illuminating the red sandstone though the contrast with the snow/ice made it more challenging for the photographer.
The first 11 images are from Madeline Island, the rest at the ice caves - all near Bayfield, WI.

This is a fantastic gallery , the rocks look great with the blue sky and the ice and snow just amazing. You did a superb job getting this top quality in such cold conditions most people wouldent even get there. Lov it.
