NGC 5752/4
(Arp 297)

NGC 5754 spiral galaxy type SBb and NGC 5752 spiral galaxy type Sb, in Bootes are the close pair of
galaxies at the center. This interacting pair comprises half of Arp 297 in the class of “Double Galaxies
with Long Filaments”. The other half of Arp 297 has another pair of galaxies at quite a different distance
and contains NGC 5755 spiral galaxy type SB and NGC 5753 spiral galaxy type S which are just above
center. Taken May 14, 15, 29 and June 5 and 10, 2010. Imaged with CCD Lab’s Q285M Camera and
a C8N at f5 on a Losmandy G11/Gemini mount. This is a crop of a larger image see:
http://www.pbase.com/jshuder/image/125945990/large. All subframes were 5 minutes
binned 1x1, resulting in the following total exposures L:R:G:B (min) = 350 : 60 : 60: 60. Captured with
Nebulosity, calibrated and sigma combined in Iris with final processing using PixInsight LE and
Photoshop CS. North is up.
