This street connecting the central square Marienplatz with Odeonsplatz and Ludwigstraße is a primary address for luxurious shopping. It is also the home of traditional cafés and restaurants, in addition to an arts cinema showing original international films with subtitles. The entrance to one of the largest art exhibition areas, the Kunsthalle der Hypo-Kulturstiftung, leads into Munich's latest shopping centre, called Fünf Höfe or Five Courts.
