Zahara de la Sierra is one of the well known "white villages" of southern Spain. It borders on a small reservoir between it and the village of El Gastor to its east. Perched upon a hill above the reservoir it has an unequaled view. The small castle that sits on the extreme top of the hill seems to hover over some of the homes here in the village. When you finally reach the top, or near the top of this hill you will find the main street of the village with its churches, the San Juan de Letran was especially colorful
