Narrow Gate To The Narrowest House

Warsaw, Poland

In the corner of Kanonia square in Old Town you can notice the narrowest house in Warsaw and in whole Europe and one of the 10 narrowest in the world.
In the 17/18th centuries the tax from the house depended on how wide it was, so this was the reason they built rather high, but narrow buildings :)

I believe the English were also taxed on the sizes of their buildings too. I think they built their top rooms out over the road in some towns...

Wow, can they fit a bed in there? Geez...you couldn't gain any weight or you couldn't walk through it. I love it. I guess you just line up the skinny furniture and hope for the best. :) Excellent!

That is amazing!!! I have not heard of this, but it is a terrific. There are some very narrow, tall houses being built here too these days. But nothing like this of course. This is just wonderful (but I don't think I'd like to live there!). VV
