These are images taken during swamp tour - our Pbase friend Scott Schexnaydre invited Tomasz and me for a great swamp trip in his boat.
We were in Bayou LaBranche, St. Charles parish, and went briefly into Lake Pontchartrain. The bayou where we first took the alligator pictures is Bayou Trepangier.
The LaBranche Wetlands comprise approximately 20,000 acres of mostly cypress swamp, intermediate marsh and shallow open water ponds. Thank you Scott!

Some images were taken at Ochsner Island (Bird Island) in Audubon Park. Ochsner Island on the east side of the park features a rookery that is one of the prime birding spots in Greater New Orleans.
The island attracts hundreds of wading birds, including Great Egrets, Cattle Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Ibis, Blue Herons, Green Herons, Night Herons and others.
The park is also home to diving Double-crested cormorants and Anhingas, as well as to many species of ducks.
Recently, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks have begun using the park's lagoons as a stopover on their migrations.
