20050713 Martian Dawn

Faringdon, Oxfordshire, England

Ok, so this wasn't taken by a spaceprobe, and it's a local sunrise rather than a rare shot of Mars.

In fact I only went as far as Folly Hill in Faringdon, but on the plus side I did get up at 4.30 to be ready for this one!

This is an amazing shot John. Have to admit I don't think I'll ever get a shot like this - can't get up so early!

4.30? I'm only just zzzing off at that time!
A nice image, but I prefer the feel of the following days shot.

Beautifully done.

Yes, Robert it's real. There was just this narrow area of the sky that looked liked this. The rest was early morning grey mist. The effect over the sun itself comes from wisps of nearby cloud.

Think of the fuel saved by not flying to Mars for this, John. Brilliant sight.
