The Great War

Called "The War to End All Wars", it was fought from 1914 to 1918, but eventually and tragically, it turned out to be simply The First World War. Total number of men mobilized to fight: 65 million. A very instructive and sobering gallery of images. Unfortunately, it not only cost so much in lives and damage, but it sowed the seeds of the next major conflict, less than 20 years later. My own war was Vietnam, which was not even a shadow of this conflict, but it gave me empathy and respect for those who fought in WWI, WWII and Korea. I hope that our kind learns to live peacefully before we destroy each other and the planet. Thanks for sharing. BV

Why can we NOT learn from these atrocious events? Twenty years later, it happened again. Is it any wonder the Europeans now stay out of the Mideast debacles??? Why can't WE (the US) learn?
