We spent the day in Salt Lake City. Our first stop was at the state capitol which was very interesting. We like to stop at capitol buildings when we get the chance. Then we went to Temple Square, the center of the Mormon religion. It was very interesting. We got a personal guided tour from a pair of young missionaries and ended up in the tabernacle for an organ concert which was very good. This photo is of the organ in the tabernacle. We wandered around for a while and spent some time in the Family Search center. I found out that one of my great great grandfathers was born in Ireland. Who woulda thunk. We also spent some time in the museum where there was a special exhibition of Norman Rockwell paintings. It was great. The focus was on scouting and many of the ones displayed are definitely recognizable. Very cool. We headed out in the afternoon for Vernal, UT, to spend the night. |
