Of the many photos of Bagan which I took, this is one of my personal favourites. Taken during the hours of sunrise from atop one of the countless ancient temples that dot the Bagan plain, it strikingly captured the mood and atmosphere of the past glories of ancient Bagan in the Era of the Temple Builders. I have intentionally left the hot-air balloon (which you can ride over Bagan for the pricey sum of US$250-$500 per person) in the picture, to give added interpretation to it that this is a present-day view of a by-gone era.
