Frightful

....for the fish that is

This anhinga had just caught a fish and was heading to some land to enjoy breakfast.
Once on land he began jiggling the fish around, trying to get it into "swallowing" position.
But, alas, he jiggled just a wee bit too much and the fish got away.
In all reality, I think it was too big to get down that narrow throat.
I wonder ....... do birds get frustrated when things don't go as planned?

Sometimes they spear the fish with their beaks...hope this one wasn't injured. Very cool shot! v

Excellent shot. Bet the fish is glad that the bird tried one too many times to get it right.

Amazing shot on your part! And yes, frightful for the fish, and frustrating for the anhinga. V

I see the fish is extending his fins to look bigger and perhaps save himself from being swallowed. Great catch (for you, not the anhinga since his breakfast got away)
