red white and...

There is a revolution brewing. Soon, the United States will overthrow its head of state and his government, and sack a sizable chunk of the national legislature. It's on the calendar: November 4th.

Tomorrow, an obscure little chunk of the country known as Rhode Island will cast its votes in the Primary elections, helping select the candidate from each party who will be on the ballot in November. (There are a few other states having primaries tomorrow too). I will vote. Because if there's anything the last seven years have taught me, it's that choosing a President is not only a privilege and a right, but an awesome responsibility.

I truly hope that in this year's election cycle, Americans will remember that the power and the glory are not in the Executive Branch, but in the people. But I know that whatever the outcome, the elections will be reasonably fair and come next January the revolution will complete itself without a shot fired. And *that* is really "the shot heard around the world."

You get to vote for your leader ?
Lucky you.
Did you know that the present Prime Minister of England got there without one vote from any person in England.
He was given the job by his old school chum.
Its not what you know, its who you know.
Politicians learnt a long time ago, give people a vote ? then you can shaft them as much as you like. If they complain, tell them, well you voted them in.
You might get a new government, when you do look carefully at the new changes they bring in. How much will they benefit you.
You will still get out of bed in the morning to go to work, you will still pay lots of taxes.
And after some years you get the privilige of voting them out, so you can start again.

PS if voting is so good, how come so many people are voting against this government.
They must be good, they were voted in.

PPS, I possibly broke an unbreakable rule, discussing politics, please forget everything I just said.

kinda forgot about rhode island in all of the noise the media is making over texas and ohio with their spandex and cape wearing super-delagates. alas, i will not be voting tomorrow. not because i don't want to, but as a registered independent i get screwed in the primaries. regardless, this are probably the most exciting elections in a decade. i'm proud to see people telling the government they've had enough. whomever wins in november, we can surely only get better.....

Well stated, Jason.

Yep..A peaceful transition of extreme power and wealth without a scuffle. Just a few negative commercials, so far anyway...

And you know, you are correct. We have a caucus in my state and this time my precinct had over a 1000 people there. An unusual amount of people, generally six or seven. People were prepared to support their views. I do not remember when this has happened. Go and vote tomorrow and vote how you believe because that is our right. actually, our obligation.

As to your image. Great thought, enjoyed the narrative and you are right. VOTE
