Ever since I saw a beautiful collection of balloon pictures in National Geographic Magazine I've been wanting to go to one, and this morning my husband and I had a really special chilly morning here. It was 35F degrees when we arrived and about 62 when we left. Looking forward to next year's event with warmer clothes, if the weather is as cold! I shot with a GH2 which I've had less than a week, and brought the Olympus 14-42mm II, Panasonic 45-200 and Panasonic 20mm f/1.7. Most of the shots were taken with the 45-200 and it was just about perfect for the job. Only problem occurred when focus couldn't keep up with my trying to catch the balloonists dropping markers (colored plastic bags) for a contest. (Update: This year I will use continuous burst mode to capture those marker drops!) From the moment I got that lens I was thrilled with it, and it didn't disappoint me with this batch of pictures. The histogram, however, kept disappearing from the lcd or viewfinder and I found that very frustrating since exposures had to be constantly adjusted to keep up with the light from different directions as the balloons moved.
