Read about the downy woodpecker here: http://www.birds.cornell.edu/AllAboutBirds/BirdGuide/Downy_Woodpecker.html
My husband called that there was a lot of bird activity outside and I grabbed the camera with the 300mm lens on it since the sun hadn't come fully around the house and I knew I would be dealing with dark areas and I needed the f/4. I spotted this guy at the suet feeder and knew if I approached quickly enough to catch him, he'd take off so I just aimed and shot from about 20 feet away through the tinted sliding door. (Fortunately, no reflections got in the way...I'm not always that lucky!)
