Birds (and occasional squirrels) - Mostly Through My Windows

Always a challenge to get a good bird shot. Pictures have been shot through double glazed NOT SPARKLING CLEAN glass (unless otherwise noted). Shot with Canon EF 300mm f/4 IS. It a different focal length, shot with Canon EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 IS or recently the 70-200 f/4L. Unfortunately, shooting through double-paned gray tinted glass makes me lose a full f-stop of light, so I have to use higher ISOs than I would like.

I am not secure in my bird identifications, so if you see a label that is obviously wrong, please let me know!
A very few of these pictures have sound files with them. Turn your speakers down from maximum volume!
Note: If you're just getting started in shooting birds, I suspect you will discover as I have recently, that shooting on sunless days will yield much better images! Reflections off feathers and strong shadows and highlights can ruin your captures.

this is a great gallery! Good job not getting glare off the windows. Dual pane can be difficult. Flat lighting makes for good shots showing more detail. They sure love your log! V

The recent additions (early March) are great! Love the "Combo" shot! I haven't seen a Pileated woodpecker for a long time and it is nice to see yours. I'm envious!
