_MG_2277 One of my babies?

What a surprise I found on my sliding door screen - 30 feet off the ground. This is where I released a lot of mantis babies last year (onto my potted vegetables). As per Flo's suggestion in the comment area I have checked with bugguide.net and it is, indeed, a Chinese Mantis.

bugguide.net might be able to tell you what kind of preying mantis this gal or guy is. Very nice shot, so lucky to catch in on a screen instead of a plant. The ones I have see in CA are all green and really hard to see as they look like part of the plant...amazes me how much they can turn their heads.

Love it! They say your kids return home sooner or later these days. My best friends 30 yr old son returned home 6 months ago ......I'm sure she would have preferred this baby...at least she wouldn't have to work 2 jobs to feed it! Very cool shot Isabel!

Oh how wonderful and a very nice shot! I have seen a couple when they were much smaller and I hope I see more of my babies too! Very different color than mine were, mine were all green.
