Felicite' is under outdoor restoration, and we look forward to offering private tours in 2013. My sister and I actually met the owner several years ago when we were talking to his cousin at the Saint Joseph's store. Felicity and Saint Joseph are privately owned homes which may have accounted for the "rudeness", however these people are VERY family oriented and want to know your people and where you come from. My family is related to the Valcour Aime family. The owner actually came down to St, Joseph to speak to us and told us to go on down to Felicity and have a look around. They are very suspicious of strangers and in the deep south like that there are still very bad feelings about the reconstruction. You have to know someone to be invited in to any of those homes, but there are plenty of well maintained public homes to visit. Laura is beautiful as is Oak Alley and San Francisco and if you can find it or know someone, you can see what is left of the Valcour Aime gardens. Just be prepared to jump a fence and ignore the no trespass signs. :)

The owners of the home were very curt and rude to us as a result we decided not to tour the St Joseph Plantation next door. The home was beautiful but so too was the Laura Plantation and the staff there was wonderful. P Sargent
