There was another that was an exact twin to this one. It was located on 7th Ave and about 130-5th Street. I would go there with my grandfather in the late 50s. There were a couple of those concrete picnic tables that had tile embedded on the top, very South Florida. Otherwise like Royal Castle downtown, it was a walk up. if I remember right, a cone or cup of ice cream was 15c.

There was a Dairy Queen on Hialeah drive just west of Lejeune road. It was closed for years that shiny stainless steel building. I always wanted to reopen it and tried to contact the owner. Lo and behold I passed by there recently and it is reopened as a Dairy Queen again. I think it was built in the 50's maybe 60's

there was one on nw27th ave north of north side shopping center and fun land park a few streets down it was on the east side of 27th ave across from some drive in was'nt that 27th ave drive in there was also a paint testing place on the same side in a small field going back south toward north side,i also remember those spoons and the flying sausers, and the blzzards i think plantation open pit Bar B Que was down from here same side of 27th heading north.

Note to Roberta: I'm pretty sure the Oldsmobile is a 1954. I used to have a 1955 Holiday Coupe that I'd love to have now.

Hi this picture is the one of fisherman street in Opa-Locka. It is still here, than became Idas restaurant -Property is owned by the fisher brothers, but people pay their rent to Pedro Realty in Hialeah.

This photo was a print from my old Miami collection, which is now a part of historian Seth Branson's archive... If memory serves me right, this Dairy Queen was either on NE 116 St. and Biscayne Blvd. or on Fisherman Street in Opa-Locka. It's been about ten years since I owned those negatives...

Dave...check out the Oldsmobile, parked @ the end, behind the ice cream truck! It's either a '55 or a '56. Remember the tall plastic spoons, in colors like red, white, yellow. blue, or green, & they all had a molded on icecream cone on the very end. Those spoons disappeared, & they are now red, with no icecream cone on them. Wish I had saved some!

I remember the "flying saucer" ice cream sandwiches! We had one of these on Coral Way and the 30s across from a Burger King
