This is a nightlight that was given to us when we got married. I've always thought it a little scary myself, but we kept it in the bathroom because it was a gift and it had it's own sort of odd charm. One day, it broke, the plate fell off, and the glass cracked. I thought "hallelulah", I can now take it down. Of course, when this challenge came up, I thought of the old nightlight and wondered what we had done with it. Lo and behold, there it was, broken in the cabinet. Unbelievably, I found myself glueing the glass plate back on. Crazy, I know.
Then came the joy of trying to take the picture. Remember, I am new to this photo thing and kept struggling with blown highlights (or whatever that's called). Finally, I got a piece of white pattern paper (sort of like a thick tissue paper) and wrapped it around the light. That helped some. Of course, once all was said and done, Scott tells me that I can adjust the shutter speed on this camera, and if I force it to a quicker speed, it will also help with the blown spots. So, next time, I might give that a shot. Chalk another one up to a learning experience. I will get decent at this yet.
