moving on...

" The great thing in the world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving.
To stand still is to lose. To move is to gain. To change is to grow. "

Amazing how you maintained focus on the background with the bus passing through. A superb example of panned exposure, and a beautiful image!

Fantastic how you got the lighting right by the reflection of the train/.tram.

Amazing! I never thought about this phenomenon before but you have caught it perfectly in this colorful, well framed composition! V
Guest 13-Aug-2006 00:24
Yes, the phenomenon of focused reflections of the shop fronts in the windows of the train and blur of the moving train might have baffeled Einstein!!
Guest 11-Aug-2006 13:52
This is so well done! I'm a sucker for blur shots, and this is among the best. I like the camera tilt which adds nice drama, the colors are great, and I like the reflection of the windows on the bus. A really great shot! Vote.

Yes change is important, but I wonder if the gain depends on which end you are looking from...for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction....I hope you understand me....fantastic, because that refelction tells us that for some to move forward...others have to stand still, or in the case of the red car...go in the opposite direction ;-)K

Cool feeling of movement, while the reflection is still. Nice one AL

Excellent image. Really like this.
The Goethe quote in the first line is one I always liked too. I think I actually worked this into a graduate school application.

Love the way the steady and the moving are intelaced. A terrific urban impression, very well composed with these 2 light filling the space left in the sky. Very well done, GMV!

I love this effect and the final result of the photo!
The impressive is that I see all the shops across the street!!

Very good - I am also impressed by the motion and the view between the windows. But for me what makes it is the smaller car on the right hand side going in the opposite direction. The way it is positioned next to the bus - it is like everything starts off in the bottom right hand corner of the photo and then goes 'woosh' from there across the screen. My vote as per usual ha ha ha.

Well, I'm impressed both from your image and from your words. "To stand still is to lose. To move is to gain". A really deep insight. I've to think about it. Thanks Ai Li. Roberto

You saved the best till last. The motion here is incredible. The colour, sparkles like your personality, and the way you can see through the bus windows is pure genius. WOW.
Guest 10-Aug-2006 15:12
Just read your point of view, love it too.
