I haven’t posted a picture of an abaya for a long time, even though I do have a couple of new ones (and more today since I went to see my abaya designer friend, Eman), so thought I’d take a break from the endless parks of the DQ and put this one up.
I bought this abaya in Oman, at the large souk in Muscat, because I was starting to feel undressed in Western clothes as I seemed to be the only woman in the entire place without one. I saw an abaya shop, picked one out, they took up the hem, and off we went. Several merchants stopped me on the way out to say how nice I looked in an abaya. I thought that was pretty interesting since foreign women aren’t required to wear abayas in Oman, unlike in Saudi Arabia; it did show, however, that it’s appreciated when you observe the local customs. I must say that I like the style, as abayas go, as well as the fabric, so wear it a lot in Riyadh.
I got the hot pink sequin shoes at Jimmy Choo in Riyadh. I decided my black abayas could use some spicing up!
