Burrowing bugs (Sehirus cinctus)

Warwick Forest. These are also known as white-margined burrowing bugs. The red ones are nymphs, the black ones the adults. They feed on a variety of plants as adults, seeds as nymphs, but are not considered a problem to plants even when found in such aggregations as here. They overwinter as adults under the leaf litter.
