Cigarette Shop

Guangxi view map

Smoking is the big thing in China.
Studies show that two-thirds of men in China are smokers
and the cigarette sales have increased sharply in the last 30 years.

Around 2,000 people a day are currently dying of smoking in China.
I hope that the government would do something to discourage smoking.

Politically incorrect but that smoking shop atmosphere is alluring...even for me.

2000 out of a pop of 1.4 billion people ! Not a very big stats !
Here in Canada, smoking is quite unpopular... the laws prohibits anyone from smoking in ANY public places, bars, offices or whatever. A pack of cigarettes cost around $10.00 (I think !) and cigarette packages are required by law to show very graphic images of the ravages of tobaco, like mouth cancer, throat cancer, lung cancer etc. etc. ! The cigarette co have turned their target on Asia it seems, where anyone can do anything they want... too bad !
This is a great shot CM, depicts well a small slice of urban life there.

I have never been to China, but this photo quite fulfils my imaginary about an urban scene of modern China. I image small corners like that hidden in big towns full of tall modern buildings, maybe I’m wrong, but I think the fact your photos has made me stop to analyse it carefully and has been thought provoking is a sign it’s an impressive photo.
I’m travelling virtually over China, thanks to you, exactly in the way I like travelling, avoiding all the most famous sights to privilege the low profile aspects of real daily life.
I’m getting a sincere fan of your photography!

Smoking became very unpopular during the last years, and the government put laws in place to protect workers from being in a smoky atmosphere the complete day.
Great shot by the way...V
