Jan 2 - Sleeping dog

Trying to keep up with the January themes of "minimalist" and "flash". Not sure it's really that minimalist though...

Experimenting here with a slave flash off to the side, using the 580EX on-camera just to trigger, but I think I got more spill from the triggering flash than I intended. I need to work out how to get the master to act ONLY as a trigger and not actually fire itself.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II
1/60s f/4.5 at 55.0mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

It works for both with me. I like how you placed the camera on the floor with the off camera flash. nice idea.

Love the POV on this - and there's minimal colour
as the dog matches the flooring, or vice versa.

Excellent point of view; gives the feel of being below the dog! Very nice!

It seems a good dog ;-)
Nice shot!

I agree about the master/trigger flash. It's hard to find a happy medium between the two. I seems like this has a nice lighting to it, however. The fur is clear and I don't think anything is necessarily 'blown out". Nice shot of that pup.

This is a minimalism shot under the "ACTION!" genre. LOL

What a sweetie. Great shot.

A good image, and not even minimal disturbance of the dog. Let sleeping dogs lie!

Still in all this is a good image. Photographing white subjects can be difficult without blowing out the highlights. As far as minimalism, there appears to be minimal energy being exerted here.
