Suicide is painless...
2 May 2006 (228)

Salisbury, UK

I know that it looks like he's waiting to be hit by the cars:
but he's actually standing on the very edge of a pedestrianized area,
waiting for the traffic to clear...!

(Taken yesterday, when the sun shone.
Today, all it did was rain....)

----------

From the Salisbury Cathedral Close Guide:

"Built between 1327 and 1342 the High Street Gate is the main point of entry into the Cathedral Close.
It housed the small lock-up jail for those convicted of misdeeds within the Liberty of the Close. Beside the gate stands the Porter's Lodge.
The post of Porter to the Close was a much sought-after sinecure for the servants of kings and nobles in the middle ages.
Before the building of St Osmund's Roman Catholic Church in Exeter Street
a Roman Catholic Chapel was registered as being in the lodge."

Used to live in Salisbury and I haven't been back for 10 years. Your fantastic photos here really took me back. You've got a good eye and a great sense of humour. Thanks for sharing!! Big vote

In canada we see this all the time... only it usually means we get a speeding ticket from the officer with the radar gun!!!

Great capture!!

Look at what people do get a photo... Photographers!! Bah!! We see them everywhere these days with their tripods and these modern cameras where they don't even stick the eye in the eyepiece or anything... Crazy lot I tell you!! It's like the plague!! Don't know why they keep talking about that bird flue thing... this photography virus spreads much faster!!
What a capture!! ;))

Nice street scene. I like photos that give glimpes into everyday life in other places. Much cheaper than air travel ;-)
