There is so much more to Africa than merely seeing the amazing wildlife. This gallery displays some of the nicer architecture of Namibia. Certainly there are the village huts of mud and thatch, but there are beautifully constructed buildings as well. Perhaps these are not considered by the casual visitors. The city of Swakopmund (German for "Mouth of the Swakop"), for example, is located on the Atlantic coastline. It was founded in 1892, is beautifully decorated with German colonial influence and still is occupied by many German speaking residents. I have to say the most beautiful building in Swakopmund, has an interesting history. Locally called "The House of Cupid", it served visiting sailors of the skeleton coast throughout some of the years as a brothel. See the photo and additional description.
