The Île de Batz (Enez Vaz in Breton) is a small island, 15 minutes off Roscoff harbor in Brittany (Finistère department).
More than 600 Batziens or Îliens live on the island. It is 3,5 km. long and 1,5 km. wide (320 ha.).
Batz is an agricultuiral island, famous for its (early) potatoes and vegetables. Half of the production sold is organic.
25 farms share the 180 hectares suitable for cultivation. Batz is a 'tractor island', tractors are more common here than cars.
Main attractions are the exotic garden of Georges Delaselle, the lighthouse, the Ste Anne chapel and the 'hole of the snake'.
