My first woodpecker

Well, this was a real challenge. Tim was on the phone but told me there was a woodpecker in the front treebox but that a squirrel was threatening to chase it away. I ran and got my camera, scared the squirrel away and spent like 10 minutes in my slippers trying to get a good shot of the woodpecker, who kept moving around amid the branches and didn’t want to pose from the side of the tree where I could actually see him. I got a few usable pictures, although I managed to cut his tail off in both ;-). Oh well.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly
unsharp.

You managed an excellent shot of the sapsucker along with the beginnings of its work on the tree. Perhaps it will be back to do some more drilling?

What a great capture! That's so cool that you have the sapsuckers there. Your caption could be me, often scrambling to get my camera because a unique bird is visiting.

It was worth all the effort Helen. I know exactly what you mean when I got my first one in our backyard, firing between branches. ~BV~
