Washington goes crazy

We tried to go to Constitution Gardens this afternoon, but Constitution Avenue was so packed with cars honking their horns and flying flags, we simply couldn’t get there. We then thought we’d go to Virginia for grocery shopping, but the highways and bridges were jammed. So we came home and watched all the celebrations on TV. We heard that Trump had to drive through some of this crowd on his way back to the White House from his golf course in Virginia. I wonder what he thought of that…

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

Most people here in Australia are elated with the result. Hopefully Joe Biden can guide the country out of the Covid mess left by Trump and restore dignity honour and respect to the White House. It's good to see the celebrations have been peaceful and joyful!

I’m still nervous it will be taken away and we will be stuck with DT for four more years. 😕

We have been following this with firstly, anxiety, and then elation. Huge news here in Australia.

So glad Biden won. However it's very concerning how many people actually voted for the loser.

I imagine you too were celebrating - quietly at home. There's even a quiet celebration or three over here.

I hope Tantrum-Donny doesn't do too much damage in the next two and a half months. I can't wait for January 20.

the best result possible with Tina Fey nor running (just think of the press conferences!!)...so Donny Trump has the DTs and is throwing a tantrum...no surprise there...Canada is delighted to have a sensible person in charge again south of the 49th..

I can't tell you the sense of exhilaration up here! surely the very fact that people are taking to the streets, dancing, gathering, coming together to celebrate a return to better times, is unprecedented?
hayl07-Nov-2020 23:41
I’ve been thinking of you these past days - relief and hope for a calmer future.

Helen:

My guess is that what President Trump thought, we can not print as it would be too offensive to most everyone.

All the best to America.
