The latest at the park

This is the latest scene at Lincoln Park. I haven’t heard about or seen any more protests there, although I’m sure the issue of removing the memorial isn’t dead.

Interestingly, I saw a picture of the statue and two Park Police on horseback taken by a Washington Post photographer in a newsletter the paper sent out yesterday. It was almost identical to a picture I had taken of it (five images back) – he had to have been standing near me and taken it a few seconds after I took mine. I was so excited to see it, I sent it to the Post newsletter author and asked him to share it with the photographer, which he said he would do. Small world!

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

We are certainly living through some troubled times.

A symbolic image of our times : More fences, more hate, more violence...V.

Not just the statue issue, it seems the fence has become a message board! Good and interesting documentary shot.

It is a complicated issue. Although attitudes have moved forward, I don't think it is right to forget or try to rewrite history. So I would rather see these monuments preserved rather than destroyed, and replace them with something more fitting to modern society.
