In the shadow of grandeur

We drove all around old Diriyah, but the weather was ugly and it just wasn’t a great day for pictures, although I took some anyway, to justify the trip.

There were a large number of people along the wadi having picnics, but it’s very difficult to photograph them unobtrusively. We can’t stop for a picture, and neither camera I had with me does well with drive-by shots. This family, gathered in front of the UNESCO World Heritage Site palace, were some of the people the “no smoking” sign below, for both hookahs and cigarettes, was posted for.

If this is a drive-by shot I am very impressed., Mine would be a blur. It is a fascinating glimpse into life in the area. V

Obviously the grey sky didn't deter people from enjoying a day out.

looks like a classic Vancouver winter sky, so know the photo-challenge well...an interesting place here....as for smoking, cigs are easily portable, but surely not too many puffers carry around a hookah..
