Garden and royal palace

A view of the inland side of the sultan’s palace. The complex was immense, but most of it can’t be seen from the outside, just some domes and such. In the distance at right is another former Portuguese fort, Al Jalali.

When the Omanis gained their independence from England, the sultan built his palace on the site of the former British Embassy (according to Lonely Planet).
