Our new tenants

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

This must be a first, for me to be posting a picture of a bird! But I have been waiting and waiting with my D700 and long lens nearby to try to get a picture, and today they didn’t fly away as soon as I made a move. This was shot through my newly installed screen door and greatly cropped. Maybe if I didn’t have that, they would have come in the house.

We have a huge park on the other side of our wall, and a lot of its birds visit our garden (and eat my tomatoes ;-)). Usually they tap on my windows, but recently I have been hearing some tapping over the screen door, but every time I go outside to see what’s happening, they fly away. I think they may be building a nest.

Speaking of flying away, we are going on a trip Thursday afternoon, so I’ll be away from Pbase for a few days because I am just positive there won’t be any Internet connection where we’re going!

Well, with insects and now birds, you are joining the ranks of nature photographers! Lovely shot. I am not familiar with birds of the Middle East, but they look like some sort of sparrow.
