Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

This is probably the most common bird in the world, but I know next to nothing about birds except that they’re beautiful, so can somebody tell me what it is? They are in my garden all the time and always have their mouths open. (Maybe because it’s so hot? Or do birds just always do that ;-)) This image is phenomenally cropped.

Note: Thanks to Danad and David for identifying this as a mynah bird!

Gorgeous shot of the Mynah, As Lynn says, birds often 'pant' by opening their mouths, just as dogs do. V

You got a great view of this Mynah despite the cropping. It does look like a sturdy bird. Our grackles 'pant' when it is very hot, so maybe these birds do too.

good catch...it looks a sturdy bird...Danad is correct...a website on Saudi birds indeed identifies it as Common Myna
