This work of art sits between the two enormous front doors. It portrays a phoenix, the symbol of the Catalan Renaixença, the rebirth of Catalan literature, as well as the Catalan flag.

"Coup de fouet" (whiplash) design was a common element in art nouveau. The iron work in the arches displays the strongest of it that I have seen. As usual, this image is finely captured and presented V.
