The young loons are getting quite big now. I've not yet seen them fly but last week I did see this one running-like on water with its wings flapping in order to get to Mom in a hurry when I approached. They should be flying any time now. For that matter, one doesn't often see the adults flying. When approached, they usually just dive and resurface a long distance away. I have yet to get a good flight shot of the loon.
