This will be my last Northern Harrier posting for a while. There was actually a pair of Harriers present; however, the female kept her distance. The male would repeatedly approach the area where we were standing, only to be harassed by and escorted away by Red-winged Blackbirds, often acting in pairs. The Blackbirds appeared to be defending their nesting area. They would get above the much bigger Harrier and dive-bomb him. The Harrier then usually took evasive action by making quick turns and/or flying off. The first three images show a Red-winged Blackbird and Harrier in flight. The last three show the Harrier making a quick turn.

Note: I'm sure the Harrier was well aware of our presence, but the combination of its desire to get a meal and it being harassed by the Blackbirds took precedence over its fright for us.
