In response to Lou's surprise at the many Sparrows in N. America: the above is one of 22 Sparrows listed in the "Birds of Canada" Field Guide. An other guide "Eastern Birds", lists 31 Sparrows for Eastern and Central North America. Lou indicated that there is only one Sparrow in Australia and that it was imported from the Northern Hemisphere.

In the above image, the Sparrow seems to be having a bit of territorial spat with an other nearby Sparrow.
