20081208 436 Northern Hawk Owl SERIES.jpg

Gatineau, Quebec

My first N. Hawk Owl cont'd. Three images: First (above) - I THINK IT SPOTTED SOMETHING

A quick over-the-shoulder look as several photographers rushed to get into position for a shot.

Flying off with its catch.

Great catch Hank. I especially like the second or middle shot. Great pose and very nice lighting too. I'd frame it.

Three terrific shots there, #2 is my favorite.

No Dennis, there was no bait used at all. The Owl found and caught this one all on its own. I marvel at how they can spot their prey below the snow. The Owl simply flew off with its catch and returned a very short time later. Not enough time to eat it so it probably stashed somewhere.
