Dogwood (painted in photoshop)

L3c-Dogwood-044

1. Started with a color image of a dogwood.
2. Used channel mixer to convert to b&w
3. Added a color filled layer. Used R 157, G 126, B 71 as the color selection - mode set to color. Why is is better to do it this way rather than using a hue/saturation adjustment layer?
4. Created a stamped layer of merge visible for an artistic filter. I used Filters/Artistic/Angled Strokes mode overlay Opacity 50%.
5. I tried a couple of more artistic filters, but did not like the effect.
6. Added new layer mode color and painted orange on some of the background flowers opacity 48%.
7. Added new layer mode color and painted green on stems and leaves opacity 75%.
8. Added new layer mode color and painted yellow on the central flower parts opacity 50%.
9. Increased canvas size.
10. Added white background.
11. Added border in brown selected from the image. Roughed the border outher edge with an eraser.
12. Added Signature layer.
