We are in a world of dark absurdity, with a touch of humor and irony.
“We are in Aalborg, a provincial town in northern Denmark, where past and present, comes together at the rate of industrial growth.
Some businesses close, with the human consequences that would involve, others are moving towards high technology.
The crisis has arrived here too, a little.
Here we do not discuss problems spontaneously in the street with a stranger, even not with our own neighbor. The climate is harsh and the reserve is required.
Here we meet each other privately, talking about the past and looking at the future.
There is no rebellion in the air, facing the inevitable the Danes stand positive, and mockingly calm. They manage together with a strong sense of belonging to the community”.
The “making of”
In order to build this photographic project, I asked my neighbors (in the street where I’m living) to meet me at the old train goods terminal during a weekend.
What they had to do was:
- Being themselves…..
- Wearing some used work-clothes and something which belongs to another “world”.
- Acting as it was their last day at work, in which their past was still very close and their future was uncertain.
