Tongariro National Park, North Island

an alternate view of Mount Ngauruhoe....one of three active volcanos near each other at Tongariro...all are hazardous as these giant vents can still erupt without much warning

as for immediate dangers, note the large scale boulders in the foreground....these were spewed out during more recent explosions

A beautiful shot of this very distinctive mountain. We have a number of former volcanic mountains in Ireland, one of them Errigle in Co Donegal, is very like this. V
