Frimpong and the redoubt

New Zealand

The Alexandra Redoubt is an earthen fort with a deep trench around it. Originally a
church stood there (built ca. 1860) but it was removed and the redoubt made and
manned by the Armed Constabulary in 1872 as a refuge for the local settlers, when
the local Maori were thought to be possibly hostile. All very historic in a NZ context.
I blew off the redoubt sign at least 3 times....It was very windy!
