For years, where Rt. 179 from Phoenix (south of Sedona) meets Why 89A, which in turn goes left to Cottonwood and right to Flagstaff - the junction has been known as the "Y." Now you can go straight thru the light to enter the ultra ugly, eyesore Hyatt timeshare complex. This blight on the landscape you can see in the center of this image. Rock formations from left to right are Finn Rock, Thumb Butte & the Bench (in the center), and Camel Head and Snoopy Rock on the right. Snoopy from this angle is hard to see.
Schnebly Hill is seen between "the bench" and "Camel Head." Sedona Schnebly was born Feb 24, 1877 (one of 12 children) and died in 1950. Her husband was the first Postmaster and her brother-in-law suggested the town be named after her (June 26, 1902). She lived up to her name in many ways, always helping all who knew her and or needed her assistance.
Now she has a foreign made car named after her.....
