Profile
Welcome to my gallery. Landscapes and cityscapes are what I enjoy shooting the most and the areas that I have chosen to focus on. I aim to provide super high quality fine art prints and files of breathtaking land- and cityscapes shot in the perfect light conditions.

I love light and I will chase special light to the end of the world. Light is absolutely everything for me, it is always out-of-the-ordinary light that catches my attention first and only then if I like the light I start looking for a subject and a composition. This means I shoot most of my pictures when the light is special: either the golden hours, the hour around sunrise and the hour around sunset, or in special light conditions like fog, rain, storms etc. I am a lightchaser but also a weather chaser!

All of my photos are for sale, and prints and files can easily be shipped worldwide so if you see something you like then just contact me - see information on the right. I can provide prints and posters on paper or canvas or an image file prepared for your website, magazine, book, publication, advertisement etc.

I have been doing photography for over 10 years and still feel I learn every time I shoot a picture. Photography is an art that is easy to learn but very hard to master. Digital photography has opened up huge creative possibilities and the powers of the Digital Darkroom is forever fascinating. I will always say this though: I am a photographer first and foremost, not a post production graphics editor, and it’s heaps more fun being out shooting pictures than doing post production work on the PC. There’s no substitute for good light and a good picture out of the camera. You can enhance a good shot with digital post production, but if it’s not a good shot to begin with I don’t even bother, the delete button does the trick.

No camera can capture an image like your eyes see it, so I use digital post production to make my photos more accurately reflect the scene as I saw it. I am not a photojournalist and I am not particularly interested in reality. I am interested in recreating how I saw and felt the scene when I shot the photo. To accomplish this I use digital post production to do what the traditional darkroom has been used for in the past hundreds of years: adjusting exposure, saturation, white balance, correct any colour cast, do dodging and burning, remove purple fringing and chromatic aberation, add contrast. I do NOT modify the visible content of the scene and I feel this is an important difference between photography and digital art. I do not add or remove content like clouds, cars, people, animals or people etc. I simply modify the look to make it more accurately reflect the scene! I have written a long article about this on my blog, click here if you wish to read it.

Most of my photos are shot digitally with the full frame Canon EOS 5D DSLR camera. I use various lenses, primarily Canon 17-40mm f/4.0 L, Canon 24-105mm f/4.0 IS L, Canon 70-200mm f/4.0 L and Canon 50mm f/1.8 II. I shoot in RAW format and use RawShooter Premium from Pixmantec to process the RAW images. Older photos were mostly shot with a Canon EOS500 SLR on Fujichrome. They have been scanned on a Konica Minolta Dimage Scan Dual IV film scanner.

All comments and questions welcome, just email me!
