Excellent perspective. As an expatriate now living in France it's nice to know some folks over there still have a sense of humor. As I read the thoughts of others below, however, I have to question who is most responsible for the Bush travesty: The Republicans, who once again managed to take the election from the oppostion and are now doing exactly what we would expect of them, or the Democrats, who decidedly allowed Bush to win a second term and now can do nothing more than bitch and moan about the aftermath? In Spain, following the Madrid train station bombings, more than one million people mobilized and marched in the streets to protest against the policies of then prime minister José Maria Aznar, who then subsequently lost the following election. Why don't we see that same level of passion and love for one's country in America anymore? Unfortunately the Democratic party will also lose the election in 2008 if they continue on the same apathetic path, with no effective system of propoganda and no clear leader in sight.

Economic Crisis a Question of When, Not If By Pedro Nicolaci da Costa Reuters Monday 22 November 2004 New York - The economic policies of President Bush have set the country on a dangerous course that will likely end in crisis, Princeton economics professor Paul Krugman told Reuters in an interview. Krugman, who may be best known for his opinion column in The New York Times, said he was concerned that Bush's electoral victory over Sen. John Kerry earlier this month would only reinforce the administration's unwillingness to listen to dissenting opinions. That, in turn, could spell serious trouble for the U.S. economy, which under Bush's first term was plagued by soaring deficits, waning investor confidence and anemic job creation. "This is a group of people who don't believe that any of the rules really apply, said Krugman. "They are utterly irresponsible." Krugman is currently taking some time off from journalism to write and promote the second installment of his latest project - economics textbooks aimed at making the science more accessible to college students. In the meantime, however, he worries the Bush administration's fiscal policies are going to push the world's largest economy into a rut. The most immediate worry for Krugman is that Bush will simultaneously push through more tax cuts and try to privatize social security, ignoring a chorus of economic thinkers who caution against such measures. "If you go back and you look at the sources of the blow-up of Argentine debt during the 1990s, one little-appreciated thing is that social security privatization was a important source of that expansion of debt," said Krugman. In 2001, Argentina finally defaulted on an estimated $100 billion in debt, the largest such event in modern economic history. Banana Republic? "So if you ask the question do we look like Argentina, the answer is a whole lot more than anyone is quite willing to admit at this point. We've become a banana republic." "The break can come either from the Reserve Bank of China deciding it has enough dollars, thank you, or from private investors saying 'I'm going to take a speculative bet on a dollar plunge,' which then ends up being a self-fulfilling prophecy," Krugman opined. "Both scenarios are pretty unnerving." In the longer-term, Bush's version of social security reform, which Krugman says would relegate pensions for the elderly to the whims of volatile financial markets, could have wide-ranging implications for future generations. The only bright spot in having Bush in power for another four years, said Krugman, is that further economic mismanagement might trigger some sort of popular outcry. "I do believe at some point there is going to be a popular tidal wave against what has happened," concluded Krugman. "In the meantime, you keep banging on the drum, you keep telling the truth. "And then eventually we have the great demonstrations, which I think are important to let the government know that many Americans are not happy with what is happening," he said.

I am leaving MY message here with hopefully Erich's kind graciousness to say that I hope the rest of the world does not view ALL Americans in a bad light because the criminals won another round in our government. There actually are alot of us who would die to see change here, and we will eventually, once the current brainwashing and deceptions of the population majority fades and they see who they actually voted in again. The "security mom" bubbleheads and the "screw thy neighbor" republicans have frightened the polulace into believeing that Bush's pre-emptive war policies and his disastrous economic policies domestically are the right path to continue down on. But as the election does in fact concern the whole world I would like to share with you guys the preliminary result of an international internet poll. If the world could vote the American president (results from Oct 6, 2004; www.betavote.org): - 87% (!) of all people in the world would vote for Kerry (incl. the US) - 95% of all French would vote Kerry - 94% of all Swiss would vote Kerry - 94% of all Austrians would vote Kerry (hi Erich!) - 93% of all Germans would vote Kerry - 90% of all English would vote Kerry - 89% of all Canadians would vote Kerry - and so on and on Countries were Bush would win: Myanmar, Faroe Islands, Kuwait, Azerbaijan, Libya, Congo, Niger. In ALL other countries Kerry would win. So, probably most Bush supporters don't care about this figures anyway since they don't care about other countries but some might give it a second thought why you might not be so welcomed abroad as Americans as you were some years ago... Things need to change in this country. Whomever gets the next four years needs to overhaul this very broken place. Instead of ungodly amounts of money going toward worthless corporate interests (like this stupid war), wouldn't it be better utilized for narrowing the ever-widening gap between the rich and poor, and making sure every citizen has a right to an education and health care? As one who has lived in America all their life, I can say from personal experience that not everyone has equal opportunities here. No matter how hard some of us work, we get nowhere. And to top it off, our civil liberties are slowly being eroded after 9/11 due our government's lousy foreign policy and its failure to provide adequate security. Now, after "what couldn't happen here" happened, U.S. citizens are regularly harassed for such things as openly carrying a CAMERA on a public street. Liberty my ass! Vote John Kerry.

Going through 9/11 in NYC, I saw the towers fall and smelled the stench of what was left. The war on terror has to be fought...but not alone. Erich, Reading some posts below brought back memories. After my 1st vacation to Austria while stationed in Germany from 10/79-04/88 I thought "How does this country make it"? They do not build an auto, no US bases... Must be the countries beauty, the way its wonderful people treat tourists and being a more affordable place than most other countries to vacation. When my 8 month old daughter is old enough I will return again so she can experience to magic of Austria as I did many many times in that 8 1/2 year period. Gary

Kerry is surely Osama bin Laden's, and Saddam Hussein's choice for president. They would love to have a whimp in the White House. It's sad that john kerry is the best the democrats can do; truly a sad testimony to the health of the democrat party if john kerry is the best they've got. He is a loser, a flip-flopper, and a whiner and cry baby. His only hope is to try to convince a lot of gullable people that there is something wrong with the USA. Any good news of the USA is bad news for kerry, because his only hope in the election is to wish for bad news so that he can continue to try to slander and ridicule the President. Only a coward like kerry would sling mud at our President, and then get up on his soap box at the convention and challenge him not to answer back. Just like the pussy he is to do the name calling, and then try to run and hide. We need a man of character in the White House, not a woosie. Most kindergarteners have suffered worse trauma than what kerry got medals for in Viet-Nam. He is a disgrace to the US military and to the country as a whole. The charade of him throwing his medals is a true testament to his real character (or lack of character, to be more accurate). He is a loser. I wanted to thank you for the great logo you made for my anti-bush graphics site: http://www.seedsofdoubt.com I applaud you efforts. You work has a a great feel to me. There will always be right wing jackasses to deal with but I figure if you are making them mad and making the right thinking folks happy you are doing your part. Hopefully you are generating some votes. From the moment that Bush was appointed in a historically unprecedented Supreme Court 5-4 split decision, he has run amok. In every regard he is the worst president I have ever seen in my 32 years. I find myself musing sometimes what it would be like to agree with a single domestic or foreign policy decision made by the Bush administration. Try as I might, I can't find one. I was glad he appointed Colin Powell but he blew that by marginalizing his good advice and co-opting his once internationally respected reputation for honesty to spread his lies and "faulty intelligence". I argue that the real faulty intelligence lies with the roughly 50% of our country that loves the guy. The escape hatch from this social and political disaster is available to Americans on November 2nd. The nation could not wait to throw his daddy out. People of all ages, races, sexes, and economic background came out to send the guy back to private citizenship. We must do the same this time around. The very veracity of his first election is the most challenged in the history of our country. Remember what the first term has been like: 1) Historically massive job losses 2) A dramatic turn from the largest budget surplus in the history of the country to the largest budget deficit in the history of the country 3) Imposition of the Doctrine of Preemption, a policy that by its very nature depends on the ability of our government to access absolute iron clad intelligence about the capabilities of the country's enemies. The unbelievable level of inaccuracy in our intelligence has clearly shown this national security policy to be completely untenable. 4) The first attack on the United States since 1949 despite clear indications from the same intelligence services that a large attack was coming in several months in advance. There were clear indications that the attack would likely come in the form of a hijacking and the administration never even sent a memo to the airlines suggesting heightened threat. The perpetrators of the attack are for the most part still at large and planning new attacks. Yet Bush claims he is keeping up safe. All of that and much, much more was accomplished in a short three years while facing the need to run for reelection. To nc_coast and those who don't want to think outside: You will know you have awakened when you think into detail, an activity Bush hopes you will not do. If you look into history, you will realise that all those hatreds against the USA are not what we think. They don't hate us because of who we are, they hate us because of what we did. Western imperialism, the crusades, support for Israel etc. Also bear in mind that we supported what we call enemies now. We supported Sadam against Iran and gave him those WMD that we have been crying about. We supported the Taliban against the Soviets during the Soviet-Afghan war. We gave them training and weapons including the dreaded stinger missle for them to use against Soviet helicopters. We called them freedome fighters, but now we call them terrorists. The IRONY! We are partly responsible for events like September the 11th and we refuse to recognize the truth but to simply bow to our emotions and to Bush. We are fighting terror by creating more terror. Bush says the world is better off because of his actions, but there are more terrorism, more hatred etc. America is now more hated than the terrorists themselves. Bush makes his actions look good for the people, but long terms results states otherwise. He surely has his personal intention that he does no want to say publicly. Are we in WW III? Yes, in the eyes of those involved. Who started it? That is insignificant. What is the problem? We are only making it worse through our actions. We have ignored what caused terrorism against the USA and are trying to solve the problem without thinking about the source that is feeding terrorism, which is us. It is like trying to put out a fire with gasoline. I am saying we should ignore terrorism? Of coarse not, I am angry about 9/11/01 like any other American, but we need to correct ourselves about the way we handle terrorism. There are lots of obvious mistakes in our war, but Bush thinks it is just part of the process, but no, it is a sign that we are doing something wrong. Bush has caused tremendous damage to the world and to the USA. He must be out of office by all means possible or else we suffer another four years with him. We must first stop feeding terrorism, tighten our secrurity, and fight the radical individuals directly without hurting other people or giving those indivuduals indirect support.

Both artistically and intellectually. (Pretzel theme -- weak point and will be dated very soon) I don't know the reason for that. It could be an "inferiority complex." It could be short-sightness of "Your sight of things" or... "hopefully" it's just plain youth naiveté. In which case you still have some room to grow. Good luck. I suggest reading material: "Death by Government" by R.J. Rummel. If you are against war (like me) this book will dramatically broaden your horizon and maybe it will give you an ammo for the future art. Stan
