Merry Christmas (Easter?). A pretty overnight snow on the day after Easter high up on the Blue Ridge mountains.
First stop on a beautiful spring? morning on Skyline Drive - Buck Hollow overlook. No snow en route or anywhere below about 2000 feet. Above 3000' a couple of inches fell overnight to make the Blue Ridge clean, white and magical.
First shot out of about 80 over the course of the day. Used the tree to block the sun and a grad ND filter to hold back the bright sky near the tree. Shoot 14 bit RAW and use a good conversion program that can do well with the highlights and shadows and the result is an image with a tonal range that would be difficult to match with film (or 8 bit digital jpeg).
