...and those cans were steel,not aluminum,so they would STILL be thrown in the garbage,and not recycled today..

cultural note : notice the soft-drink can is of the old style "pull-tab" variety.You pull the teardrop shaped tab off and toss it-sometimes even where it belonged,into the garbage. People used to step on them at the beach, and elsewhere, often cutting themselves in handling as well.They were eventually phased out, thankfully, because of safety and environmental concerns...
