Selcuk Kushadasi

view map

The first time I entered Kushadasi I heard a row in Dutch, in "my" Amsterdam accent. I felt like turning back. I don't like this place, but then, I don't like any place where tourism takes over and sets the pace.

One of some slides from my early visits (1992 or 1996) that I scanned and edited in 2018. By now the centre of Amsterdam - where I live - has been taken over by tourism too, I have nowhere to flee.

This is the harbour.

I love your pictures. They have brought back so many memories of the years we lived in Turkey. We lived in Izmir from 1962 to 1966 and spent many wonderful days camping on the beach in Kushadasi. We were back in Turkey living in Adana from 1973 to 1975. We visited Kushadasi during that time and were amazed at how this village had grown. There were huge hotels on the beach where we camped in tents. I'd love to hear from anyone who were in Izmir or Adana during the years we were there. e mail me at g.anashirl54@gmail.com

Hello Herbert,

You should have used Kodachrome. I aged, my films didn't.

Hi Dick, thanks a lot for all your photographs (Hasankeyf and others)When I visited Kusadasi, it was a nice village and I did like it. Then. A good 30 years back. There where tourists of course but not too many. Me, as another tourist, I could "live" with them.
The photographs I took then where mostly Ektachromes and they are showing their age.
Same as I do ... I'll drop in another time and Greetings from Herbert
